Charter schools are public schools, employ educators who hold valid teaching licenses, and comply with most of the same regulations as other public schools. 
Akii-gikinoo'amaading is the first independent tribal charter school authorized by a tribal college in the state.
Akii-Gikinoo'amaading is an independent charter school authorized by Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College and operated by the Wadookadaading Ojibwe Language Institute.
Akii-gikinoo'amaading enrolls students in or entering 6-12th grades.
Akii-gikinoo'amaading enrolls any student in or entering 6-12th grades who is a resident of the state of Wisconsin.  Tribal affiliation not required. We just ask that students have an interest in the natural world and have personal accountability for their own education. 
Akii-Gikinoo’amaading admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its admission policies.
Akii-gikinoo'amaading is a public school and does not charge tuition.
Yes, students will be assessed in all core academic areas in the fall and following spring. Fall results will help us identify strengths and needs. Spring results will measure growth. 
Students will also take the Wisconsin Forward Exams, ACT/Aspire, and ACT at the appropriate times.
